1. Create a new document that 4×4 with FOUR artboards.
2. Select a contrasting pair of letterforms( one Serif + Sans Serif). Choose letters that vary in their weight, geometry, and complexity.
3. Working within a 4-x-4-inch square, combine the letterforms in dynamics compositions. Alternate the color of the letters (black and white and choose letterform details to illuminate the unique anatomical and stylistic features of each. Use figure/ground and positive and negative space relationships to contrast forms against each other as well as merge them together. Crop, combine, repeat, rotate, enlarge, and reduce the letterforms to create both separation and ambiguity. It should look it type feel and create an abstract design.
4. Create 4 designs three that celebrate formal differences as well as distribute positive and negative space into fluid, balanced compositions.
